Primary Care

When it comes to quality care, community member Linda Horner immediately thinks of Decatur County Memorial Hospital.

Linda Horner is a retired librarian. She and her husband Joe moved to Greenburg five years ago to be
closer to their grandchildren. One of the first things that came to her mind after moving was deciding on a primary care physician. Linda is a breast cancer survivor, so finding a good physician to take care of her and her husband was extremely important. Thankfully, Linda’s daughter recommended Dr. Mary McCullough, Primary Care physician at Tree City Medical Partners.

“From day one I was so impressed with her. She is so compassionate. She cares and she listens. When it is an ordinary thing,
such as a sore throat, she takes it serious and takes care of you. Like with myself, when something is more serious and she doesn’t have the answers, she connects you with someone who does.”

Linda was experiencing a severe health issue one evening. Through our MyHealth Patient Portal, she was able to email Dr. McCullough directly and share her concerns.

“She responded immediately, got me in and within two days, I was able to see Dr. Haynes for a colonoscopy at DCMH.”

After returning for a follow up appointment, Linda was faced with another health concern.

“Dr. McCullough sent me to Dr. Dubois and I was able to see him that same day for an appointment! Does it get any better than this?”

Linda loves using the MyHealth Patient Portal and encourages all patients to utilize this tool on the DCMH website. This is an easy-to-use site that connects you with 24/7 online access to appointments, medical records and more. You can also interact with your provider through the secure electronic exchange of messages.

“It is like having a doctor right by your side to answer any questions you may have. This is one of the best things that has ever happened. It is wonderful and convenient!”

“I want to say I am so appreciative of DCMH, Dr. McCullough, Dr. Dubois and Dr. Haynes. Everyone treated me well, talked to me, explained to me my condition, and eased my stress. I have had a lot of doctors in my life, and I have never had another doctor that has cared so much about me like Dr. McCullough. I can’t emphasize enough that you need to come here and see that the treatment and staff are worth it.”

When asked why this hospital is so important to this community, Linda smiled and responded, “First of all, the location. No one wants to drive far for great care when we can come here to DCMH. Because it is a small hospital, people know each other and treat you as if you are their family. This hospital is special because of its family oriented feeling as soon as you walk through the door.”

Linda has also partnered with our Cancer Care Department and its support group meetings as a mentor for patients. She speaks with community members and families who are going through cancer treatment at DCMH.

“The support group is amazing and such a great resource for patients. I am honored to be a mentor and help the nurses and staff in the Cancer Center speak to the families and patients. So inspiring!”
